We're so happy you're interested in enrolling your little one at Family Preschool. FPS uses a third party, TADS,  to process applications and to collect tuition payments. Please contact us if you encounter and problems or have any questions while using the site.

Family Preschool opens up its application process to the public in mid-November of the prior school year.

All applications will be placed on our wait list. After we have completed internal enrollment, we will start accepting the applications in the order they were received.  We fill these public openings during the first week of February, which is when you will receive notification to either accept enrollment or to learn your place on the wait list.

A nominal fee of $55 is charged for processing each application and holding a spot on the waiting list. This fee may be waived in cases of financial hardship.

Applications received from the general public after all the open spots have been filled will be processed as received and added to the end of the waiting list.

The registrars will consider the ratio of girls to boys in each class when offering positions to new families and will attempt to maintain an equal balance by offering positions to applicants of the minority gender.

If your child is offered a space at Family Preschool, a nonrefundable enrollment and supply fee will be due within two weeks.

Children admitted to Family Preschool must comply with the immunization requirements of North Carolina. A health form that is available on TADS must be signed by your physician’s office or clinic and must be submitted before the school year begins.

Just Here for a Year?

If your family needs Family Preschool for one year only, please let us know on your application. We have reserved a few spaces in our 2-year-old program for people who can only make a one-year commitment to the co-op. Such families may include:

  • Families here for a fellowship, internship, or educational program.
  • Families who will enter their children in another school the following year to earn priority status in that school, such as Durham Academy, Carolina Friends School, Duke School for Children, and others.
  • Families on sabbatical.

Please contact us for more information on one-year contract spaces.
